WNIT Game by Karen Leonard, PPSA

April 2024 - WNIT Game

About the Image(s)

Our Minnesota Gopher women’s basketball team are in the same conference as Iowa and Caitlin Clark, the super famous women’s college basketball player.
The Gophers got into this year’s Women’s National Invitational Tournament. Tomorrow they will play in the championship game of the tournament. It is not the NCAA tournament, but, it is nice and a good place to be.
Here the Gophers, in white maroon and gold, are playing a winning game with the North Dakota State Bison, in green and yellow.
Tech specs are: ISO 1600, 85mm, f1.8, 1/1000

I like the action of the Minnesota player dribbling the ball and the N. Dakota players trying to defend. I also like the expressions on each of the players' faces. The reflections on the floor are interesting as well. Penn State women participated in a new NCAA sponsored tournament called the WBIT - Women's Basketball Invitational Tournament. We had the opportunity to see two of those games here.   Posted: 04/14/2024 15:26:50

Sharp image, nice colours and I like blurred background.   Posted: 04/21/2024 02:53:54

Hi Karen. What a fine basketball shot you have almost convinced me to go and buy an F1.8 lens for night sports. I am assuming you did shoot at F1.8, this lens has enabled you to get significant background blur, I have been waiting for someone to put on a photo shot with these settings for night sports. The action also well timed with 2 defending players with eyes on the ball trying to stop one attacking player, all faces clearly seen. This photo could not be any better.   Posted: 04/26/2024 01:05:18

Excellent photo Karen. Proper exposure, good sharpness and DOF. It's nice because all of the faces are visible, and the background is nicely blurred. The player's reflections on the floor are interesting. Did you crop off any of them?   Posted: 04/30/2024 02:14:20
