May 2025 - Referee down
About the Image(s)
Last month I has an image of the Wisconsin Badgers winning the NCAA Frozen Four women's hockey championship. This is a photo from the game. There was a fight between the teams. One of the Buckeyes, in solid red, struck a referee. Seen here on the ground, an almost unheard of event in sports.
It was then early in the game, and the referee did not respond. Later, in the 3rd period, the referee gave Wisconsin a lone penalty shot, a rare penalty in hockey.
Wisconsin made the goal, which tied the game, and won in overtime.

While I don't follow ice hockey and don't get the specific story, the image certainly is full of action, with both the referee and a player fallen on the ice, and the attention of the people in the crowd really tell a story. I think it's a good capture of an interesting moment in the game.   Posted: 05/10/2025 17:05:04
