I find this image has strong emotional impact. I read different stories in this image about poverty, hunger and nourishment.

This image is so different from ones which I photographed where street people suffer from addictions, mental health or physical disabilities.

I think the signs on the right edge of the window and the top of the window pull the viewer's eye and suggest a different crop.   Posted: 04/01/2024 14:26:18

In addition to hunger, and contrast with the restaurant in the background, I also thought, faith. Is this fellow praying, Salah? I noticed he does not have his shoes on and appears to be on a prayer mat. The placement of the his cart also adds interest to the photo. Enjoyed it.   Posted: 04/05/2024 19:24:00

This image has a lot in it. The title expresses the Islam prayer that the faithful take time for 5 times a day, no matter where they are. In this image, this man, who may be homeless - we see his old shoes and the cart that might have his belongings in them - takes time in the middle of the street to pray. I like the every day signs behind him, such a contrast to the prayful man. So it has poverty, as well as faith and prayer, in the image.   Posted: 04/08/2024 00:20:43

The ubiquitous cart full of possessions of a homeless person creates a juxtaposed contrast with the empty restaurant bragging about its food. The prayer position is such a unique capture compared with the usual photo of a homeless person lying down in blankets. Very well done.   Posted: 04/14/2024 12:45:20

There is a lot there but also agree that the crop that Judith did makes it slightly stronger. The call to prayer, assuming facing East, the shopping cart full of possessions, assumed poverty, and in B&W create a very compelling story.   Posted: 04/20/2024 09:19:54
