Ardeth, I love corn, and I can eat a lot of eat. I am not sure of I could go through a plate full. Obviosuly the competition has just started. I just wonder if you have more images with the cubs already cleared. All the participants are just wondering if they will be able to finish.   Posted: 01/04/2025 11:36:20

I love the event you have captured, Adreth, very interesting. the expressions of each participant is so unique. I would have loved to see a boy at right border with puzzled face full. Even without the camera & photographer at bottom. Of course, I can understand the difficulties to compose an image at such crowded place.

Overall an interesting image   Posted: 01/06/2025 03:19:10

I did take a lot of photos from different angles, but it was very crowded with people watching the event from all sides! This would probably be a good event for a collection of images to tell the story. I did take a number of photos of individual participants, as well, although I felt for a single photo, the one showing more of the setting told the story a little more fully.   Posted: 01/06/2025 10:25:09

For sure this one tells the real story of a mouthful of corn. I just wonder what is the rubber ducky's role in the picture   Posted: 01/06/2025 15:59:38

Another aspect of the annual Loveland Corn Roast Festival is a duck race in the Big Thompson river that flows through parts of Loveland. People pay to get a duck to decorate, and the duck that crosses the finish line first wins a prize for its sponsor! A great deal of money is raised that goes toward community and school programs.   Posted: 01/06/2025 18:13:10

I am enjoying this corn eating contest and it is interesting that there are actually other parts to this festival. Karen Kohn   Posted: 01/13/2025 16:27:59

you are right, Ardeth. a photo having more people together is more interesting.

We can very well understand the limitations covering such crowded event   Posted: 01/07/2025 02:10:03

Vinaya, just to clarify, the young boy on the right side of the photo is just an observer, which shows how close spectators were crowded around the competition table. The plate of corn that is in front of him is actually intended for the competitor at the end of the line there with the sunglasses and balding head!   Posted: 01/10/2025 09:16:01

Oh, Vinaya, I see that I misread your comment about the boy on the end! I thought you meant with his face stuffed full of corn, and obviously you meant include his whole face!!   Posted: 01/11/2025 16:08:31

The original image conveys the story of a competition. The image is candid, arouses my curiosity (who will win, how will participants feel the next day, and what is the goal i.e. to finish all the corn)? The viewpoint and angle help show both participants and some of the crowd enjoying the moment. The yellow corn (color draws the viewer's eye) to the subject.

You might consider reducing the luminance of the white shirt and table cloth.

Oh my!!! All that corn! I bet there will be some tummy aches the next day. I like your inclusion of the crowd and observers too. Very interesting and thought provoking!   Posted: 01/11/2025 15:45:09
