January 2025 - Canada Presenting the Wreath
About the Image(s)
Nikon z6ii, 24-120 mm lens, 1/400 sec., f 5.6, ISO 1250, 120 mm
November 11, 2024, Remembrance Day Service, the Canadian Member of Parliament for London, presented the wreath for Canada.
Unfortunately, the lampost is in the way. I did try a crop to eliminate the pole. Once the ceremony started, I could not walk in front of spectators to obtain a better position.

Judith, indeed this image is a follow up on last month's. Here there is a more formal action going on, and we can appreciate more Veterans. As you describe, nothing you can do about. Is as is.   Posted: 01/04/2025 11:43:53

I think this is a good photojournalism photo, despite that darn pole! It certainly describes the story, including the formality of the presenters and the large observant crowd. It is very colorful, and I appreciate the very visible presence of the people in uniform.   Posted: 01/06/2025 10:27:34

Very interesting and definitely tells a story. I remember the one from last month too. No way to get rid of that pesty lamppost for sure. I did try a different crop to get rid of it however you lose part of the story.   Posted: 01/11/2025 15:51:14

I experimented with this same crop before submitting the image this month and came to a similar conclusion, one loses part of the story.
Last year, I positioned myself to have the pole more on camera left. However, I ended up photographing backs of photojournalists and the people laying the wreath. See attached)
I did scout the area when I arrived and understood the best place to stand. So did the photojournalists who blocked the view.   Posted: 01/11/2025 16:18:15

It is too bad that photojournalists blocked your view, but I still enjoy the three marching along and find it interesting that two back feet on adjacent people are parallel in back. Karen Kohn   Posted: 01/13/2025 16:36:46
