I took this photo at the junior golf play days. They were so absorbed in their cell phones that they had forgotten all about golf. It tells the story of our young generation and their attachment to electronic devises.

For me, this image documents that mobile devices are prevalent, and that young children know how to use them. For me, it does not tell the story that the younger generation are so attached to their electronic devices that they have forgotten all about their golf. Perhaps they are waiting to get on the course or have finished playing golf. The story is not clear.
Governments and health organizations are aware of the issues around "smart phone use" and have developed many videos and guides available now which advise parents how to empower teens to navigate smartphones safely. The image does not appear staged.
I see the tree has a blue color and the skin a blue cast. You could move the temperature slider toward yellow.
If you had more room on camera right, you might consider expanding the image to include more of the clubs.

Some background to my comments. My step daughter, a pediatrician, chaired the Canadian Pediatric Society committee developing guidelines on screen time for children and is the CPS spokesperson for screen time. She gave me a copy of the Family Smartphone Guide, when I joked whether anyone was developing a guide for adults. This guide helped me to understand that we need to understand both the positive and negative impact of screen use, and consider how to manage their use.
I could easily show this image to an elderly person and ask "if a young child can learn how to use a mobile device, why can't you".

I definitely see the values of having the cell phones. It is a hard job on how to manage ones time on them...especially the young ones. Like everything, over indulgence is the bad thing. Posted: 01/13/2025 11:41:11
