May 2025 - Keen to meet God
About the Image(s)
In Chennai, India, there's a well-known temple called Kapaleeshwarar. The temple’s procession is especially famous and visually striking. Before it begins, all the priests stand in a line to chant prayers. Spectators are expected to keep a respectful distance. Suddenly, a small girl ran ahead toward the chariot. I captured that moment

Hi Vinaya, This is a wonderful moment well captured. If you are a devotee of this religion, it's easy to understand the entire scene. An alternate presentation for a neutral viewer might be to crop out most of the top of the image leaving the long lines of priests, the girl, and the marvelous shadows. I love the little girl running down the path surrounded by the parade on either side. Karen Kohn   Posted: 05/05/2025 00:44:03
I like your crop Vinaya. There is a lot of interest in the ornate building whatever religion one practices. Darling little interruptor and great capture!   Posted: 05/08/2025 10:35:57
Vinaya
Without your explanation, the story evokes curiosity...is the girl wandering up the path intentional? Your crop explains the story.
I found my attention went to the bright sky in your version and Karl's crop brought my attention to the girl.
You might consider some further editing in the image i.e. correcting the perspective, darkening the sky, reducing the highlights in the white robes, opening up the shadows in the temple to move the viewer's eye. These edits are allowable in reality based editing guidelines.   Posted: 05/10/2025 09:49:58

Vinaya, great image. To me the blue chains on the ground are the leading lines taking your eyes directly to the wondering little girl and of course to the temple that is main component in this story. I would nor crop it. Agree with Judith tweaks.   Posted: 05/10/2025 10:20:58
I am with Isaac on this one. I think cropping out most of the ornate buildings eliminates the vivid color and interest of the setting itself, and I think Judith's tweaks, while subtle, do enhance the image. I love the photo; it really makes me smile!   Posted: 05/10/2025 17:01:49
