About the Image(s)

The kids are discouraged from fishing in this small area because of the tangle of underwater growth and the trees and shrubs that catch the hooks and fishing line, but I had to smile at this boy and his dog spending a sunny late afternoon trying for a catch from the bridge!

I am amazed at the well behaved dog sitting there. Although I cannot see it, the boy may have tied the dog leash to keep him there. Since there is underwater growth around, it must be hard to direct your line to a specific spot. Obviously, if the boy is continuing to fish, he must enjoy it. By the way, the shadows on the platform where they are standing direct my eye to the boy. Karen Kohn   Posted: 05/08/2025 20:42:08

Ardeth, I like the interaction between the boy and the dog, even though they are not looking at each other. The fact that the dog is sitting down with the ears up (attention mode) implies that he is waiting to see what is coming next, perhaps a fish. Nice colors.   Posted: 05/09/2025 17:06:33

The image reminds me of patiently waiting, both dog and boy.

The blurred area above the fishing pole and the blur in the foreground tree is confusing. I looked at your settings and the shutter speed seems high enough to reduce motion bur.

Judith, well spotted! The photo I submitted was an original file I was working on rather than the final version. The blurred background trees are not from motion, but the 150-600 mm lens blurs the parts of the photo that are farther away than the in-focus subject. Attached is the one I meant to submit.   Posted: 05/10/2025 15:47:38
