Brotherly Love by Jamie Federick

April 2024 - Brotherly Love

About the Image(s)

Here is my Image for April. It is entitled "Brotherly Love". Taken with my Canon Rebel 6i at 1/200 sec, f/13, ISO 800 and 40mm. I took it into Lightroom and into Topaz DeNoise and Topaz Sharpen. It evokes a feeling of love and caring. The big brother is trying to help his little sister and keep her from picking the flowers at the Arboretum.

Jamie, very warm and colorful image of the kids interactions and the tulips. It is a pity that the one standing has his face completely covered by the hat which takes away a lot of the impact of the story. It is always to have some visible eye contact.   Posted: 04/04/2024 16:15:42

The story is very sweet. I think it would be a stronger image if you could get down lower so the viewer isn't looking down on the children and could see both faces in the interaction.   Posted: 04/07/2024 09:05:08

Hi Jamie!
The image does not convey much to me, from my point of view it is a simple image without elaboration at the time of taking it, I think that for what you wanted to convey you could have changed the shooting angle and showed the expressions as a strong point of the story.   Posted: 04/09/2024 14:56:59

Hi Jamie, there is a sweet story here about the children in the garden, it almost seems like the boy is teaching the younger one. I do agree with Ardeth that a different perpective (get down lower to eye level so that we can see the expressions on the children's faces) which will help you tell a stronger story.   Posted: 04/11/2024 01:47:49
