Before the Concert by Karen Kohn

April 2024 - Before the Concert

About the Image(s)

Before a concert at Walt Disney Hall, the people are examining the program. I like the way the threesome is discussing what they will hear.

Karen, yes it is interesting as how the three people in the back are interacting probably about the program about to start. The rest of the auditorium are minding their own business. The Usher is picking through the back door adding to the image. Unfortunately, the quality of the image is very poor, and out of foccus, and could not be helped bith the new AI softwares.   Posted: 04/06/2024 17:19:42

Now that I take a closer look, I realize you are correct. Karen   Posted: 04/10/2024 11:53:16

Topaz Sharpen AI or even inside LightRoom if you use it.   Posted: 04/14/2024 18:12:09

The photo is blur, so not good to observe. There is no theme as such, each person is engaged in different activity. So neither a story nor emotional impact   Posted: 04/07/2024 07:17:45

The theme is that all are there to hear the same concert. Karen   Posted: 04/10/2024 11:55:14

I think even though photojournalism is often a capture-the-moment type photography, it is important to train your eye to see a moment that includes a focal point of the story. That usually means in a crowd or group situation selecting a specific portion of action/interaction you want the viewer to notice. This can take a lot of practice. And as Isaac mentioned, sharpness is very important to make the point of interest stand out.   Posted: 04/07/2024 09:11:34

Hello Karen!
I don't have much to say about the photo since my thoughts on it are reflected in the comments of Isaac, Vinaya and Ardeth.   Posted: 04/09/2024 14:59:57

HI Karen, this image has the potential to tell a story about concert goers, but there is no real point of interest or group of people that catch my eye doing something that I would find interesting. Yes I can see people interacting, but not in a way that would tell a strong HI story. The main problem for me is that nothing in the image is sharp and it's very noisy.
An aperture of f2.7 taken at 203mm focal length, and hand held will never give you a sharp ianmge at 1/30th sec.

I agree that it does not have a strong story. I cannot see much emotion either. I agree about the photo not being sharp. I use Topaz Sharpen AI too.   Posted: 04/16/2024 09:51:03
