September 2025 - Seaweed Collector of Jozani Beach
About the Image(s)
This picture was taken early in the morning on Jozani Beach in Zanzibar, Tanzania.
People make a living there collecting seaweed, while their children play on the beach.
It was quite a sight!

Interesting and good photo for PJD. I would have tried to do 2 thing a bit differently. In this case I wouldn't have add her in the center of the photo, but on the right side for the composition. I understand that you wanted to show a bt of the sky to, but cropping her in to see her closer would be better in my opinion. The light on her face is really good, I would have brought the darks on her clothes a little bit up with light to see a bit of texture. My opinion. Well done and welcome to the group.   Posted: 09/05/2025 23:52:33
Successful Human interest image. It tells the story human interest images strive to convey. In this instance, a solitary woman going about her daily collection of seaweed for whatever purpose she needs to fulfill. You don't say if you compensated the image, but the bright sun could have been somewhat dimmed either by using a polarizing filter or by compensating at -.3EV. Either way would have made the colors a bit bolder. I think the image is well-centered as it is, and in a way, shows some scale with the enormity of the ocean background.   Posted: 09/06/2025 06:02:14
I really like this where you have captured this person in their daily work/tasks with the concentration on their face and showing nothing else to distract. My only suggestion would have been to fill the frame more in camera with this person or crop. The light on their face is wonderful.   Posted: 09/12/2025 10:38:28
