Very well-exposed. You captured the shadows without blowing out any of the highlights. Shooting at f 1.7 doesn't do much for depth-of-field but your subject was not the trees at the top of the image, but rather the interior. The rack of the dried meat is ever so slightly hazy, as are the two covered opts a bit further back. I suppose that couldn't be helped, but the image is a good human interest example. It would also be a good example for PTD. Do you compete in PT?   Posted: 11/01/2025 06:36:04
Thank you Alan. I generally shoot underexposed, with the Fuji Gfx100s it's not a big deal to highlight the shadows, the range in this camera is fantastic. Yes I do compete also in Ptd. The girls were cooking for me so I had plenty of time to take some unexpected and unposed shots   Posted: 11/01/2025 07:38:21
The judges prejudices notwithstanding, you have a good image. It's a pity that both PJD and now PTDD does not have a mechanism for telling the judges that the image was unposed. I've had several judged low because the judges thought they were posed, and one even DQ'd for that reason, although none of my images are posed. I would suggest that if you underexpose, that you try compensating at EV = -.3 or even -.7. In that way you won't have to compromise the depth of field with a wider f-stop. Even still, it's hardly noticeable here anyway.

Great image! I like the lighting and the tones in this one. The fire in the stove gives me the impression that you caught them a little unexpected. Nice work.
